Change in Coaches

Unfortunately as some of you are aware of Adam Bratley is unable to coach the C and D team anymore. This is due to his high workload and commitment to his Degree and Royal Marines Training. Mark Illingworth and Laura Scheim will now be coaching both teams on Monday nights and for games.

Adam will continue to run the off-ice training sessions at the new time of 5:00-6:00 on Thursdays, this is open to players from all teams and is free of charge, meet outside the Sports Centre at The University of Nottingham.

Also D team and Development Squad training at Sutton Rink on Wednesday’s 2-4pm starting on 1st Nov. That’ll mean meeting at the Sports Centre (UP) at 1pm. Simon Hopkins will also be coaching this session.

C Team vs Oxford Vikings 2-10

This was a steep learning curve for a much-changed C team, who played their first game in Division 2 against one of the division’s favourites. Goalie Dave Smith was arguably made to work harder in this game then he did in the entire 2005-2006 season, making some excellent saves before eventually and understandably succumbing to exhaustion midway through the 3rd, where he was replaced by Neil Curtis. Despite the early barrage and few goals against, Nottingham settled and pulled a goal back to make it 3-1, which rejuvenated the side and made it anyone’s game. Taking and throwing a few hits was alien to this new team (apart from the odd hit during training) but the entire team fought hard and let the opposition know they weren’t going to lie down even as the Oxford goals began to creep in. With some more vigilant refereeing, less dodgy bounces and unlucky deflections and a bit more stamina (myself included), the score line would not have looked as bad, and the stellar effort by all the boys would have been more evident.

Great effort lads!

The Second Club Social will be on Thursday 19th October at 8:00pm @ Hooters , later moving onto Oceana. All players will recieve free tickets to Oceana in Hooters.NO OFF ICE TRAINING THIS NIGHT.

Hooters are also trying to organise with their brewery some drinks promotions and have said that we can have all you can eat wings on all social nights. If you Click Here!! you can print a voucher off for all you can eat wings and a pitcher of beer for £6.95.

Again this is a Compulsory Social, so all players need to attend, otherwise we will not be able to hold further socials if attendances drop. GB players on training camp the following day are expected to turn up to Hooters, but can leave early due to their early start.
