C Team loss 22-1 to Cambridge in the Division 2 clash
A harsh lesson for the C team in positional hockey, this game was over in less than five minutes. Nottingham never settled into any kind of offensive game as the superior skating and general skill level of the opposition kept the puck in the Nottingham zone for 90 percent of the game. Zoe Vince made some excellent saves in her first game for the C team, but neither she nor her halfway replacement Dave Smith could do much to stem the constant flow of shots and chances.
The team now know exactly what they will be working on in Monday’s session and will hope to carry those lessons through for when the Eskimos return on the 9th in the NIC. Credit goes to Callum Turner for the lone Notts goal, and Neil Ellerton for battling through a slapshot-caused bruised ankle and a near-concussion to win a deserved Man of the Match. A big home crowd on the 9th will be the encouragement that the C team need to bounce back strongly, so get down and support the team!!
Despite the scoreline each player put in everything they had, and deserved a less harsh result. Time to pick ourselves up and take it to them at the NIC!
